Our very first reading session at the 'Little Stars Reading Club' was based on the theme 'Fun with Jungle Animals'!
About the books we read..
1. Fun and Games at the Zoo by Kevin Price & Vicky Fieldhouse
An out & out fun book, where Maisie and Bertie are playing games with the animals, and there are prompts on each page when you can ask the children to join in the fun! Our little stars had lots of fun running, jumping, roaring, swinging et al.
2. The tiger who came to tea by Judith Kerr
No frills & fancies, no morals & teaching, just a simple story to be read and enjoyed. What a timeless classic this is! First published in 1968, there is also a theatrical adaptation of the book. Check out http://www.thetigerwhocametotealive.com/. I'm sure it will be an interesting day out for your little ones! :-) Our little stars were mighty amused when the tiger did actually visit us, right in the midst of the story telling! ;-)

3. We're going on a bear hunt by Michael Rosen
An absolutely wonderful book, so simple yet so thrilling an adventure, it is a family favourite with us! A wonderful classic again! We love the way you can sing along too.. Do check out the brilliant online video @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb-nTnriTP8. This has a theatrical adaptation as well http://www.bearhuntlive.com/.
We also indulged in some craft. Our little stars created simple tiger masks out of paper plates! :-)
And last but not the least, we also raised £25 to support a charitable cause!
Happy Reading!!
