Father's Day!

15-Jun-2014
Father's Day.. I see it as a day to celebrate a father's unconditional love for his child, and a child's undying and ardent love for its father! We try and do something special each year to celebrate father's day. Nothing spectacular, but something to make daddy feel very loved! And as my pudding is older now, it is so much easier to sit down with her and get her to create some special treats.

We had anyways planned on making a card and baking a cake for the special day, and when @The Bubble Ink announced the Dad's day challenge, we just went along with it! :-)

There were 4 themes given, and the idea was to read a book based on the theme each day, and also do an activity surrounding it.

Date with Dad

We read "Daddy is my hero" by Dawn Richards, and made this very precious card. Our pudding was so excited after making this, that she had to tell daddy about it as soon as he got home from office. So daddy got his card 3 days before father's day ;-)

Dine with Dad

We read "The tiger who came to tea" by Judith Kerr, and we baked a cake on the special day. Daddy and pudding baked the cake, while mummy helped decorate it. We actually tried decorating with fondant for the first time, and were quite pleased with the outcome!

Doodle with Dad

We read "The day the crayons quit" by Drew Daywalt, and also doddled as we read along.

Red apples
Purple grapes
Big black beach ball
Blue rain
Yellow sun
Pink monster
Green frog (scribble)
Grey mouse (with some help)

Nice naa!? :-)

Doze with Dad

We read "I'm so sleepy" from Tulika publications. The activity albeit not related to the theme, was done by daddy and pudding, while mummy was away at work. Daddy drew Peppa's playground while pudding colored it and and arranged all the stickers of Peppa and her friends.

And oh yes! we also got daddy the perfect father's day gift, an endearing book called "A perfect father's day" by Eve Bunting. Four-year-old Susie treats her father to a series of special activities for Father's Day, but they just happen to be all of her own favorite things. Our pudding loves it when we replace Susie with her own name while reading the book. And incidentally, the book just has all her favorite things too, like visiting the fast food restaurant, a duck pond, the playground, the fair et al.

Whilst we had fun doing all this, we also won the challenge.. Yippppeeeee!! As for the prize, it was another book added to our collection, "Too many toys" by David Shannon, and books always make us very happy! :-)

To all the doting fathers out there, stay blessed!

Ciao..
