Little Stars Reading Club - Space

12-Oct-2014

Mangalyaan (The Mars Orbiter Mission) was successfully inserted into the Mars orbit on 24th September, by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). And to celebrate its success, we had a 'Space' themed reading session at the little stars reading club! :-)

About the books we read..

Me and my place in space by Joan Sweeney

A lovely book to introduce the concept of space and the solar system to little children.  In clear language, drawings, and diagrams, space unfolds before a child's eyes.  Colorful illustrations, filled with fun and detail, give children a lot to look for on every page and a glossary helps reinforce new words and concepts. And I love the fact that it is a little girl in the book who is the explorer!

As we read the book, we also created our solar system and identified all the planets!

Aliens love underpants by Claire Freedman & Ben Cort

"Aliens love underpants, in every shape and size, But there are no underpants in space, so here's a big surprise..." You probably thought aliens came down to Earth with a view to taking over the planet - but, no, they simply want to steal your pants! This zany, hilarious tale, delightfully brought to life by Ben Cort's vibrant illustrations, is sure to enchant little children! After all, which 4 year doesn't burst into laughter at the mention of underpants ;-)

And we also had some aliens visit us in their spacecrafts! :-)

For charity, we raised money for the J&K flood relief..

Happy reading!
