Our 'Tell a Tale' reading session at the Little Stars Reading club was a complete delight ! The theme was totally inspired from Little Readers' Nook's tell a tale contest, in which our little pudding had taken part earlier in the year.
About the books we read..
Pranav's picture
by Nandini Nayar & Vishwajyoti Ghosh
Pranav says he is drawing a picture. But his mother sees nothing on the page! What is Pranav drawing? The narrative and freewheeling illustrations follow the simple, spontaneous logic of a child's mind, and make a brilliant story!
To complement the reading, we colored in a beach story, and added in some sand (used roasted rava) and shells (that we collected on a recent beach trip)! :-)
The lion and the mouse
by Jerry Pinkney
In an extraordinary wordless picture book, the very famous aesop's fable is retold by Jerry Pinkney through bold lifelike pictures. Pinkney won the 2010 Caldecott Medal for his illustrations in the book.
This book is surely one of it's kind. The children were so excited to just look at the pictures and narrate the story on their own.
We also used Little Readers' Nook's story creation ideas. The little ones got to choose from a given set of characters, props, settings and then spin a tale around them!

Happy story telling, everyone!
