'Love and Kindness' themed reading session in time for Valentine's day..
About the books we read..
The Room On The Broom
by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffer
Ah! Julia Donaldson, has there even been a better picture books creator?! We absolutely love her books. Everything about her picture books is just so fantastic; the lyrical text, fantastic illustrations, brilliant storylines, we can read them time and again without ever getting enough of them. The room on the broom is the story of a kind witch and her cat, who helps a number of other animals whilst riding on her broomstick. And when the witch is threatened by an evil dragon, the animals join hands to save her. And in gratitude for the act, she creates a magnificent new broom which has room for everyone!
Mummy, do you love me?
by Jeanne Willis and Jan Fearnley
A heart-warming story about a little chick who learns that no matter what he does, his mummy will always love him. It is a reassuring tale for kids, who will find comfort in the fact that a mother’s love is really forever!
Anika and I love to say aloud theses phrases from the book:
Me: “Sometimes you make me mad, sometimes you make me sad, but not matter what you say or do, I will always love you”
A: Why?
Me: “Because I’m your mummy”
A: “And because I’m your baby” :-))
For craft work, we made some beautiful Valentine cards, and some fridge magnets (courtesy @Creative Bits)!
Happy reading!!
