Sing-along, come let's sing a song!!
Sing-along books can be a lot a fun. Kids love the lyrical text, the rhymes, the joy of just simply singing aloud.
About the books we read..
Rooster Raga
by Natasha Sharma and Priya Kuriyan
There is really something different about reading an Indian publication. You can somehow immediately feel a connection and relate to the story.
Can roosters really sing ragas? This one is a hilarious rendition of a rooster trying to master the art of signing a kukaroo-kuroo, that every other rooster seems to do so effortlessly. As he consults other animals for advise on how he can master the art, try as he might, our rooster only kuka-moooooos, kuka-heeen haaans, kuka-miaooows but can’t kukaroo-kuroo. The kids were in splits every time I animated the voice a little and tried to sing the different ragas! :-))
Over in the meadow
by Jill McDonald
We absolutely love barefoot books and the sing-along CDs. This traditional rhyming tale takes kids through colourful meadow scenes meeting a variety of busy animal families along the way. From a bumpy mother toad and her baby basking in the sun to a hairy mother spider and her ten children spinning webs in a den, it is a charming little book!
The singing by Susan Reed is absolutely delightful, there is no way you cannot sing-along..

In line with the theme, we engaged the kids in making a tambourine from a paper plate, and decorating it with some colourful drawings!
Happy reading and storytelling!
